Lucky #7

And this is why I need to stop driving my car....(did I mention I just got it in DECEMBER?! Too many miles!) ;)

You'd think I'd get some sort of prize, 7777, then again, maybe that only happens in Vegas :)

Hi, My Names Nacolynn and I'm an Addict.

Cupcakes. Are. My. Current. Obsession.
I've been doing a lot of blog browsing for new cupcake ideas, inspiration, and recipes. I figure the only reason why I really enjoy baking these tender little cakes, is because all baking is, is another form of art. My mother and I were discussing this today (she's an AMAZING self taught wedding cake maker), and its just another medium: icing instead of paints, cake instead of paper or a canvas, parchment bags and knifes instead of paint brushes, etc. It still requires an aesthetic eye and creativity, and the way you manipulate the icing (fondant, butter creme, icing, etc) takes time and practice, just as one would when playing with paint.

Anyways, I've been to my share of BBQ/potlucks lately where I've made cupcakes (I use these as an excuse to practice this edible form of art on others) and had troubles with transport. So, yesterday, I clipped that 40% off coupons from the Michaels add and purchased my 1st 3-in-one carrier. It carries 24 cupcakes, mini cupcakes, or a 9x11 flat cake. Its splendid and I love it. Here's a photo documentation of my lovely cupcake baking filled morning :)

Here are a few fellow cupcake blog spots that I check out frequently:

BANFF, Here I Come...

My sister's my inspiration for the following post. In an attempt to be more sustainable, I decided to only bike/walk to places (if possible) within a 2 mile radius of my house. Another thing I had decided to do is to bike to work once a week. Not only is this good on the environment and my gas bill, its also good for me (biking around town, wouldn't hurt this body ONE bit:) Anyways, so this is what aspired from Friday's bike ride back from work...needless to say, I took a little detour.
.
This video is hopefully, the first of many to come, so enjoy and let me know what you think. Perhaps you'll see it at the next Banff Film Festival :) Until then, park the car and RIDE!

Whole World, Thumbs UP...

So, I made it through today sans Rockstar. YEAH. I miraculously had enough energy to get me thorough the work considering my late night...that's right on a Tues. This is where I was:
Photobucket
We hit up a wicked set at the ultra cool The Continental Room to see Gio and Poems...an urban old skool hip hop feel. Its located in the SoCo District in Fullerton...a definite re-visit (anyone interested in hitting up Steamers? I've been looking for a new jazz joint). Also, check out these threads...they were promoting T's designed by acrylick. I'm a fan of this fresh ,hip, original, new urban clothing line...check it out.

Finished?

So, I've decided its much harder to work with acrylics than it is for watercolors. I've decided to wait to put paint onto the canvas' until I get a feel for the medium. I found out a friend of mine paints and I told her about the new addition to my artistic world. She told me they have cavnas pads (I told you I know NOTHING about acrylics, but I should of guess as much) and gave me a sheet to practice on. Well I decided I should outline something and sort of color in to see what happens. So this is how it begun:

And its completely changed each time I sit down (I think I've changed it 4 times now?)...This is what its become thus far:

And here's another one...(don't ask me why the hearts...I didn't realize it was a theme).

I've purchased 4 different brands of paints now, trying to see which I like better than the next, or if I can even tell a difference. Thus far, I have no idea. I know which one I like best, the Lascaux...but that's only dependant on the packaging:) I did find another art store that I prefer over Sterling Art. Its called Art Supply Warehouse, located in Westmisister. Most of their stuff is discounted, and they sell oh so many supplies (including Kidrobot stuff - who makes the Zipit I love to buy).

Anyways...I'm going to try and paint something else, like a tree or sunset or something...anyways, we'll see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

...those Apple Bottom Jeans and the boots with the fur...

So, did I ever mention I took dancing lessons as a kid?

Ha, ha...its actually suppose to say NACOlynn, instead of Arianalynn...lol, to bad that's not really me...I've got a good 20 years on the girl and she could STILL skool me. Guess I'll have to stick with Geology and forget about becoming a back up dancer for Missy E...

PUSH PLAY

So, this is whats been in my head lately...Calabria - Enur ft Natasja "woop woop" (I wanted to post the video, but refrained due to some "risque" visuals...but it cracks me up cause I totally do this, dance like an idiot, but in the confines of my own home...most of the time :) no worries, the 1st 50 sec. aren't that "risque"). Its completely DANCE worthy...I've just been trying not to play that song to much lately...

Here's whats also on this week's playlist:

2. Go Girl - Pitbull ft Trina & Young Boss

3. The Way I Are - Timbaland ft. Keri Hilson

4. Get Low - Flo Rida ft. T-Pain

5. Sensual Seduction - Snoop Dogg

6. Flashing Lights - Kanye West

7. Don't Stop the Music - Rhianna

8. Superstar - Lupe Fiasco ft Matthew Santos

9. Freakshow - Britney Spears

10. Kiss Kiss - Chris Brown ft T-Pain

11. The Anthem - Pitbull ft Lil John

Can ya tell I'm in need of a dancin' sesh??? Oh, can no one do a song anymore without "featuring" somebody else??? My inspiration? A "girl powered" energy drink...Not for dudes! (it says that on the can)

(...this energy drink is for reals...ha, ha, I tried something new. I think I'll stick to my sugar free Redbulls and Mango Rockstars...)

Dance like no one's watching..."woop, woop..."
