Walk for Lupus Now Oct. 18th, 2008

Well the walk was a success. I was fully functional, surprisingly (I couldn't sleep the night before. At all. Went to bed at 12:30, only to get up an hour later and start packing...finally fell asleep at 4..). I was all jitters (internally) as I packed up the signs I made the night before sat waiting for Dane to get to my house (he was on "work time"). Well, finally off to pick up Pearl, make a Starbucks run, and head to LA. There were SO many people at the walk. I honestly don't remember that many last year. I wanna say it doubled in participation. They said, that more than 2,000 people registered. Our team had the most people on their team, which was a competition I guess. We won, which meant t-shirts for our whole team.

Here are some pics from the event. What we didn't take pics of, was the booth, (any team who raised over $2500 got their own tent. Our team raised over $2500. I came close to my goal, with a final collection of $942. Thanks again for your donations!) nor did we take a team pic. We had a lot of support and it was fun to come together to support such a worthy cause.

The rest of the pics have been uploaded to my facebook. You can check out the album here.

Well, there you go. Just wait till next year. We'll be going bigger and earning even more for the cause. All donations went to the Lupus Foundation of American. Together we can find a cure! Thank you again for a wonderful event and for all your support! I think Eme would have been proud :)

This is What I've Been Up To Lately...

VOTE YES ON PROP 8!

Marriage between a man and a woman is sacred. I believe in procreation, and a traditional form of family. I also believe the most ideal setting for raising a child (which can also be backed statistically) is with both roles in the home (male and female), aka mother and father. Oh, and we participated in a fundraiser this past Sat. which raised $2600+ for YES on Prop 8! Go us!

AND,

Walk For Lupus LA is THIS SATURDAY. I'm only $130 from reaching my donation goal. You're donation of $1 or $5 would be greatly appreciated! We're walking in Memory of our friend, sister, cousin, and daughter, Emeline Te'o. Lets do what we can to help aid in research to understand this life threatening disease.

AND IF YOU'RE NOT YET REGISTERED TO VOTE, DO SO HERE! YOU HAVE TILL MONDAY! LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD.

Joseph belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints...

Joseph getting baptized this weekend, means getting to see/spend time with friends/family. Here are some highlights from my weekend. The baptism (Joseph, Jo, Lelani and Deann):The babes! I'm a proud Auntie of 4 adorable kids (Tay Tay and Ansel fish watching @ Shasta Museum, after our 1 mile walk for free tee shirts;):
OPEN SESAME! Plus snacks are delicious!

Tay Tay found a nice big puddle for entertainment after the days rain.
Got to see Rach (its been since her wedding, June 28):
Spent time con mis padres (Dad with the boys):
And, got to play in the water (thanks Cowboy Josh) in Sequoia National Park.

All in all it was a lovely, successful weekend. Joseph's baptism went fantastic and I'm glad I was able to be there. Now we just need another event to get together again! Love you family!
