I Really Like This Ladi....

So don't ask me why, but this "Ladi" is off chain. I just can't help but think of Ms. Fila herself when I watch this video, maybe its the style, maybe its the voice; whatever it is...I know that Ms. Fila could replicate it and make it her own. So, Ms. Fila, this is my shot out to you...I think its time for a career change.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Saturday evening found us in Westminister in "Little Saigon" to join the masses who were celebrating Chinese New Year (even though its a Vietnamese community! lol) Here are some photos of the evening:
Its the year of the Ox! I was snapping picture while we were waiting for our bbq pork buns to warm up. Mmmm....it was the closest thing to manapuas there. lol
Everyone was lighting fireworks to celebrate the festivities. It sounded more like a drive by lol
Most of the vendors were all selling the same thing: mums, orchids, cherry blossoms, persimmon trees, pots, fire crackers, and paper ornaments/New Year Ox memorabilia. Some vendors sold cool toys, like these superhero glasses that light up or blink!I think I made the better superhero:)
Live snails anyone??? Leni says Polys like to eat them raw or boil them. Raw?!? Yikes! These looked much more appetizing!

Happy MLK, Jr. Day!

You do know we share the same birthday right? He would have been 80 this year! Anyways, just sending a shot out to Mr. Martin Luther King, Jr., nobel peace prize winner, civil rights activist, and Baptist Minister...

Lupus Awards Luncheon

So, many of you may remember my donation request for Walk for Lupus Now LA. Well, were invited for the awards luncheon that was held at CPK in Lakewood. It was great to be there and see other walkers and supporters.
%20class=">An LFA (Lupus Foundation of America) representative from Chicago flew out for the award presentation. Walk for Lupus Now LA raised over $204,000 dollars!
A large group of us gathered at the Lakewood California Pizza Kitchen for free food (thanks CPK!) and awards. Dan with CPK was gracious enough to donate all the food for the luncheon. Thank you soooo much Dan!

The highlight of the event had to be when our Team was presented with an award for our fundraising efforts. We were one of the top teams to earn this award. I can't tell you how happy this made me. I was already emotional from an e-mail that was read from another Lupus girl who was choosen to be part of the Ad Council (this is GREAT news), a personal experience of life with Lupus, then the announced our name and the award. I wasn't expecting that at all. I kept thinking of all the e-mails I sent out, the people I bugged for donations, and all the effort we're making for the loved one we lost to the disease. All that effort made it worth it in that very moment. We were surrounded by so many other people who are affected by the disease and are out for cure and to rise awareness of this disease. Hana accepting the team award (a cute little purple Chuck Taylor!).
Troop ET, for being one of the top teams to earn the most money! Thanks again guys for your support! You don't know how much it means to us! Not to mention the LFA and others who are benefiting from the awareness and research for a cure! We're all winners!!! Haha and I with the LFA representative.
Also, the dates for this years walk are out. It'll be the same place this year for LA on September 12, 2009 in Exposition Park (USC campus), LA, CA. And in the OC @ Hidden Valley on June 6th. I'm only walking the LA walk but just emailed someone about volunteering for the OC walk! It'll be our 1st walk down here. So sign up!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Its my birthday shout hoorah! Yeah or birthdays! We started out the celebrations last night with cupcakes, ice cream, pin the tail on the donkey, sticky men, roses, and...a pinata!
Birthday bunting! It turned out sooo cute. I made it for S-D's b-day and we're leaving it up for birthday week (her b-day celebrations were on Monday, yeah for January babies)!

B-Day cuppy cakes :)

G-G finding the donkey's tail. Ha, haaa...I currently have 4 sticky men stuck to my ceiling! They're these cool little toys that have sticky feet and hand and "climb" down the wall after you throw them on the wall. Guess they REALLY liked the asbestos-free, popcorn ceiling!

Birthday flowers! Thanks Jose Ole :)
Barby in action!

Plus I came across this site. Its a list of all the FREE stuff and discounts you can get on your birthday. Try it! I've already been signed up for many ice cream and frozen yogurt sites...mmmm....check it out! And birthday celebration Day #2 begins tonight!

Eraser Love:)

So, I was blog'o browsing and came across this site. I've been uber interested in blockprinting and regreat not taking a class in college. I've dabble a little bit into, but still don't know much. Geninne's Art Blog posted about using pencil erasers as mini-blocks/stamps. I had already purchased a Speedball lith carver thing (I don't even know the name!) so took it to work with me.

What I forgot to do (I did the same thing when printing out iron-on transfer) was to super impose my words. Which is why my cute "thank you!" stamp turned out like this:

Which stamps out on paper something like this:

(sorry! for some reason I keeps uploading sideways...grrr...:)

Anyways, next time I'll be sure to transpose? superimpose my letter before carving! (Oh, and can you tell that the 2nd stamps a cuppycake? I think it looked like a muffin, then a rain cloud, ha, haaa). You should try it. Its easy and those eraers are much easier to work with than linoluem! Speaking of which I need to buy more blocks....

Peace people!

FREE GAS TUESDAY!

This man was kind enough to bring me 2 gallons of FREE gas. All I had to do was call this phone number and wait by the side of the University off ramp for an hour. All he asked was that I sign my name after her got my VIN#, simple as that. I'll consider it my way of "sticking it to the man." lol Oh, and did i mention I was only ~1 mile from my office? Ha, haaaa....at least I know it works now!

My theory was right all along :)

"Maybe Its a Sign"

I love signs. I think I always have. I remember as a kid taking signs/license plates, window decals, etc. I no longer take sign, now I just take pictures of them :)
Really? I'd like to think I have options.
Ahh...the joys of the film industry. I'm still waiting to catch my break and get noticed lol
Ha, ha...seriously? Who does this? I only know of one person, and her maiden name is JOHANSEN lol

Jan. 1, 2009

What did you do today??? This is what I did...

1. Made waffles for breakfast.

2. MADE homemade bread. There's a reason why people don't make bread anymore. It literally took me ALL DAY LONG. Mix, rise 1 1/2 hrs., kneed, rise another 45 min., put in pan, let rise another hour to double...seriously...and the final result? Its edible, but ugly and I thought there were enough for 2 loafs but it ended up being only one. Anyways...I'm going to continue to buy my bread. The only bread I will be making is banana.
I had thought there were enough for 2 loafs...either they didn't rise "double their size," or I misjudged? I also didn't know how to roll them. I just formed them in long shapes and put them in the pan (I tried to understand my mothers directions via phone, yeah...).The final product: tastes edible when plastered with butter and jam of choice. lol

3. Painted. Our living room piece still isn't finished (its completely experimental) and I had to do something while waiting for the bread to rise...3 times!

4. Then went here, thanks Antro!:
Ahhh....what a lovely way to end the day :)
