Love Guru Pillows

One lazy Sat. morning, I decided to ride along with my roommate on her way to her apt. So I pumped up our tires, grabbed the cruiser and set out. Hours later I came back to the house with these lovely 2 additions....the love Guru pillows. You may ask how I got them there? Hahah...love the cruiser. Some nice girls helped me strap them to the front of my bike (the bike basket was too small). Good thing I had bungie cords with me! Oh, and you should of seen the looks I got from "roadies" as they road by via the Santa Ana River trail...hahaha....maybe if I had bikers shorts and a helmet I would of fit in better...or maybe not :)

I'm obsessed. Aren't you?

It was cheap and a good starter computer (it was my 1st bike computer). I wish it read in miles (haha, I keep forgetting my km conversions), and had wires (at time of purchase I didn't have a preference, now I know I want a wireless one), but it was easy to mount and works great for commuting (and stays put and doesn't get caught on anything during mtn. biking). Oh, I also wanted it to have a trip timer. So, a great starter one, its nice and simple, but now I'm ready for an upgrade! :)

Festival of Colors

I came across this blog via freepeople. It documented pics from Holi, a Hindu Festival of Colors which celebrates the welcoming of spring and the triump of good over evil, which occured on March 11, 2009.  I loved the pics as well and love the colors. I've never been to the festival, but have known many "celebraters." Check out the pics:

I love the colors (not to mention the photographs spectacular), and it definelty looks like a celebration (my type of fun, running around, dancing and throwing colors!). Here are some of my favorite pics of my sister and friends/family celebrating The Festival of Colors:

First Day of Spring...

(this is the garbage bag skirt I made during the rainy outdoor week of work. Its quite the fashionable little pencil skirt if you ask me:)  Goodbye winter, hello spring!

GGGRRRRRrrrrrr....

I'm mad. So 2 days ago I noticed the following cut on my bike lock (I've been riding to work this week): 

(Another view of the same cut).  Now initially I though it slightly comical since all they really made it through was the plastic coating. But then, night 2....
Day #2: A different cut and this one went all the way around. With a little more effort they could of made all the way through it.
So now I have 2 cuts, but after this 2nd one I had to un-lock both my bikes and bring them up stairs to my patio. Now I'm grateful that the lock worked and save my 2 bikes (the mtn. bike and beach cruiser were locked with the same lock) but bummed that I now have to buy  a new lock (they're not cheap) and that I now feel like I have to keep my bikes upstairs.  

Anyways, guess I should send a shot out to Onguard for keeping my bikes safe. Thanks! This lock does look like its a lot harder to cut through...unlike my Kryptonite...me and Paul Yoo cut through it in 5 min.! (okay, so maybe I didn't make much head way on my lock...but I do think I loosened it for him lol)

So, which one of these should I buy next?  Any favorites or suggestions out there?

Guess where I"m going Tonight?

So I came across this the other day after I stopped by downtown SNA in pursuit of arepas. I was trying to remember where Mil Jugos was and started heading down a road while the directions were uploading on my crackberry. This is what I ran into:

It was just block after block of sidewalk yard sales. Very, very interesting. I couldn't believe how many people were outside of their apartments selling "stuff." Most of it was baby stuff (we were in Santa Ana lol). But you'd also find little vendors selling their "Made in China" goods.

Stroller anyone?

This was probably the highlight...no arepas, but my $2 hot dog wrapped in bacon...(and I don't even like bacon!) It was good, but I'm pretty sure I love the onion and ketchup the most :)

Does anyone else find this odd? (not the hot dogs) but the sidewalk yard sale? Has anyone else seen this where they're from? I'm very curious to know.

BUY LOCAL!

Every Thurs. from 9am-1pm is the Farmers Market at Costa Mesa Fair Grounds. I was out in the field this morning and stopped by the market on my way back (after making yummy mac&cheese @ home for lunch) to complete my hour lunch break.  

The reasons why I love Farmers Markets:

• Free samples:) You can taste the fruit before you buy it.
• REAL food, grown by REAL farmers, in REAL gardens, LOCALLY.
• No pesticides 
• Lots of hippies/surfers (rich soccer moms/nannys with kids too) with their eco-friendly, reusable shopping bags:)
• Fresh produce, plants, flowers, and lovely free-range chicken eggs (see pic above)

I was thinking of my brother and his recent "green" diet and my silent pledge to eat out less (we're all trying to save money where we can aren't we?) so my shopping list (haha, my "buy and you go" shopping list, I rarely write one out) included the following: tangelos, radishes (complete with dirt and stems lol), lemons, cabbage, strawberries (the farmer threw in a free tomatoes at purchase), hummus, pita chips, some apple syrup for mi mother, and an artichoke (these still remind me of Ms. Amber Kay Syme/Johnston).  Anyways, it was fulfilling and everything looked so delicious and reminded me of the gardens we grew growing up. I think this year I'll try to grow something, like cherry tomatoes (I almost bought a plant, $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00). I'm planning on going on Sat. to pick somethings up for my parents (a bag of oranges and avocados...it was my dad's b-day on March 1st...and he loves CA grown citrus products!). Speaking of which, here are some listings for local Farmers Markets:

	Costa Mesa Orange County Fairgrounds, 88 Fair Drive 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (rain or shine)
Friday
	Huntington Beach Pier Plaza, Main Street & Pacific Coast Highway (next to the pier) 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. (rain or shine) (I've been meaning to go to this one for sometime now too)
Saturday
	Laguna Beach Lumberyard Parking Lot next to the City Hall 8 a.m. - Noon / 8 - 11 a.m. July and August (rain or shine) (nice location and then you can cruise Laguna, its great to go after a hike in the canyon, and, so scenic:) Irvine Irvine Center on the corner of Bridge and Campus (across from UCI) 8 a.m. - Noon (rain or shine) (parking can be tough, it gets really busy from the surrounding units, but its nice for grocery shopping since Trader Joes is in the same shopping complex)
