1 June 2010

So today was a "sick" day. I had originally taken it off as part of my Memorial vacation but hadn't been feeling well and therefore didn't make it into work today.  It was nice to actually sleep in (that doesn't happen when you have nieces and nephews waking up at the crack of dawn to see what Auntie Naco's up to - not complaining, just stating), and check e-mails, FB, reader, etc. from bed.  I also caught up on my Glee episodes and went through my junk mail. I was feeling a bit better toward the latter part of my day and ended up getting myself out of the house to see a 4:20 showing of "Exit Through the Gift Shop." I had mentioned that I had want to see it earlier and was thrilled to see that it was in town. I give it 3 thumbs up (can't lie about feeling gitty about capturing visual of street artists - mostly Banksy - in the act). I did notice that its rated R (for language) though.  I was also able to FORCE myself to start working on a baby quilt that I had started at least a month ago. I have a hard time with sewing.  I usually get so "gun ho" (is that the saying?) toward the beginning of a sewing project, but quickly get disinterested and distracted to actually finish it.  Today was productive.  I actually starting sewing it together. I'm learning some things I should have done (I swear I should just take a sewing class already!), and what I should do differently next time.  I'll post pics once its finished.  I need to trim the edges and attach the cheater binding.  Oh, here are some links to a couple projects I came across today that I need to add to my list of "To Do's:"

IT"S FRIDAY!!! CAUSE TO CELEBRATE!

So in celebration, I'm listing this week's list of:
"A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS..."

1.  Yummy, yummy, delicious goodness packed inside a cute little, edible BUNNY GRAHAMS.

 2. Another Annie's bunny favorite...The ever so lovely CHEDDAR BUNNIES!
3. Thao's album: We Brave Bee Stings and All.
She's ever so lovely and always is capable of making one happy, don't believe me? Play "Bag of Hammers." (p.s. if you want to search her on itunes, type in 'THAO,' or 'THAO NGUYEN.'  She's also known as Thao Nguyen and the Get Down Stay Down...).

4. MOJO bars by CLIF. I love the name (its also a nickname for my seester) and I love these bars. I like CLIF in general, but these are new, and crunchy, and lovely, and tasty and delicious...I think CLIF sums is up just dandy, they said:
"Honey roasted peanuts - when bees and peanuts get together, nutty sweet & salty things happen." And who can argue with that?

(Oh, and for more pictures of real live people, who have real live bees....check this amazing, female, olympian-like bee keeper--->HERE.)

What are "a few of YOUR favorite things?"

Old Friends

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I ended up having to work in the field all last week. So, yesterday when I was back in the office, I was happily greeted by my office friends, which I had neglected all week. Meet my office buddies:

Chewy:
And these guys....are my Homies ;)

They brighten up my office a little more and basically keep my company (don't worry, they don't talk back...ha, ha...). I'm sure they're friends with other office friends friends, like the Star Wars Mr. Potato heads (R2D2's cute). I actually found Chewy in the toy department while b-day shopping for my nephew. He really isn't a functional toy (his arms barely move). The series is cute and perhaps for $10 a pop...the series shall be mine :) Oh and did I mention that Chewy's made from 100% Recycled Goodness? Guess I can't say the same thing for my Homies.

Love These Little Guys

...they make me happy and are so fun to open, collect, and buy (not to mention look FANTASTIC on my jackets)...you can get them in different themes (aka my hot pink bullet Zipit comes from the 'Things That Hurt' series...I really wanted the brass knuckles one!).

Here's are more detailed and professional description:

Prozac-infused or just naturally happy, no zipper pull has ever demonstrated this degree of job satisfaction.

From illustrator Kat Leuzinger, these doe-eyed cuties are tickled technicolor at the idea of clipping onto your hoody, bag or sweats.

AHHHH!!! I DID IT AGAIN!!!

SERIOUSLY. You think after having done this 3? times now I'd have either learned how to boil eggs, OR stopped trying all together. Well, I was thinking of how I'd like to have a boiled egg, or perhaps an egg sandwich in the morning, only to forget about it...uh? at least 40 min. later (I jumped in the shower). I heard that sprinkler popping noise again, and had thought they'd fixed the sprinkler...yeah. This time the sound was louder due to the EXPLOSION. Who knew eggs
could be so combustible? Anyways, here's a pic of the casualties...

Check it Out! I'm Famous!!!

In a town of <2,000!> This basically means I'm old and 1998 really seems like a LONG time ago...ouch. Oh, and P.S. I didn't submit that pic...thanks Lynds :)

Don't Cry Over Spilt Milk...I mean Burnt Eggs.

So my mother LAUGHED out loud (and more than she should of in my humble opinion) when I told her I had recently burned 2 batches of boiled eggs...yes, BOILED eggs. I've never considered myself anything remotely comparable to Betty Crocker and I've always let people know up front that cooking has never been my forte...ha, ha, for real. Anyways, I'm pretty sure I've ruined my pan. But it is interesting to hear that snap, crackle, and pop when the eggs shells are "cooking" on the bottom of a then waterless pan...ha, ha...Anyways...here's to you mom!

The incredible edible? egg :)

You'd think I'd get some sort of prize, 7777, then again, maybe that only happens in Vegas :)

My favorite number: 23
